After dealing with late and broken trains, we finally arrived in Calabria around 6 at night. Only 3 hours late. Tropea (troh-pay-ah) is where we stayed. I searched the internet for "The best beaches in Italy" and this one kept popping up so I booked us a room near the beach. It's a really small town, so everything is near the beach. We walked into town which took about 15 minutes. The area around the train station is a ghost town, so I wasn't quite sure we were even in the right ...
... had come loose from the engine! Fortunately I had the tools to repair it and after about half an hour I was back on the road. Basically Calabrian roads are not very good and the exhaust had rattled off!
So I headed to Palmi to meet my friends and complete my journey today.

... Bingo. Damn...apparently number 9 is NOT my all time lucky number. Off I went to the slot tournament. The prize there was $500. Okay, so Bingo isn't really my game...but slots...now that's right up my alley. As you can see in the photo of the tally board after my turn, I'm placed third and the top 6 get into the final. I returned an hour later....and I'm no longer in third place...nor fourth, fifth or sixth. I'm out of the running. Just as I was last week. But, ...
