... Italian politics and way of life, we walked the little town and looked in some shops. We drove back to the house and checked out "The Olive Garden" or olive groves on the Turano property. The youngest tree was planted in 1905 and the rest are between 300-400 years old! At night we went to Cesare and Gina's house for an outdoor dinner (starting at 9:30 PM!), and once again, relaxed and enjoyed the fresh mountain air. I can definitely get used to ...

Today was very chill. I explored the hotel in Taormina a bit this morning. ... crazy! He even commented that my dad walks like my grandpa. It showed me how connected these small towns are, and that they are the epitome of community. I grew up listening to stories told by my parents and many other relatives about life in Italy; they are a part of who I am. ... Gina. She cook likes my grandma used to, and everything in their beautiful home reminded me of childhood family gatherings. There are three national parks heading south towards the toe of Italy and we can only find one campsite between them all. We took the scenic road through the mountains hoping that we might stumble on one but with no luck. For as far as the eye can see, there are forest clad rolling hills with the occasional village perched on a rocky promontory.
