We woke aboard the Italian ferry Roma sailing between Italy and Spain. The sun was rising behind a low cloud. We sailed north for a while, leaving Porto Torres at the top of Sardinia. ... a great sail in to
our destination. I know I say this a lot about the coastlines we pass but the Sardinian coast is something special even from a distance from shore.
We got to the Bonifacio Straights where we had the mountains of Sardinia on the
starboard side and the mountains of Corisca on the port side of us.
The anchorage we chose to stay in only had two other yachts, so quite peaceful ...

... and through a very shallow channel between the islands. We didn't expect to see so many boats at anchor including quite a few super yachts/ motor boats.

We enjoyed the swordfish we'd bought a couple of days earlier at the fish market and I must say it was cooked to perfection.

... got off the bus, walked for 30 minutes on a path under a burning sun with 35 degrees (no trees in the paths, just bushes). But it was worth, to get to Cala Sabina!!! It's a awesome bay with astonishing colours! We stayed there a few hours enjoying some snorkeling and taking pictures of the fishes swimming in the very shallow and crystal-clear water.

... the capital of Sardinia, with a quick stop at Spiaggia Quartu San Elena for some swimming, sand castle building, and gelato eating before heading into town (for more gelato!). We explored the historic city, shuffling the kids through the Castelo district, finding traces of every phase of the island’s history at every turn (First the Phoenicians, then the Spanish, the Romans, the Spanish again, etc. etc. ...
