Cobbled together

The cool thing about arriving in a new place at night is that when you wake up you get to see it in a whole new light. This Mediterranean fishing port on the Istrian coast is even more charming by day. After a much needed leisurely start to the day we wandered down the polished cobbled stone streets in search of bikes. For 50 kuna (about 10 New Zealand dollars) each you can hire a bike for 5 hours. Feeling totally satisfied, we drive away to our next adventure. Craig has read about Hum, the smallest town in the world and for some reason, that is our next destination. We choose to avoid the main road and meander for miles (or should I say kilometers) through the tiniest, yet well maintained, back roads. At times it feels like we are on someone's driveway, but ...

... a beer. Talked to them for quite awhile about the goods and bads of living in Croatia. They are not fans of the high taxes and easy living for the unemployed. However there is almost zero crime here... Doors are not looked much, the murder rate countrywide last year was 4 ...yes 4. We feel totally safe walking around... Even is Zagreb it was easy going. Despite some of the challenges of living here they all seem to love it...very interesting conversation ...
