Wow. Thick fog. Its a good job we've walked to Peas before, as you could barely see across the vinyards. In fact, the fog was spread right across the valley and hadn't budged by our return.

Drove south to Troyes, with the fog finally dispersing by the time we arrived. The historic centre was very different to the towns and villages around Broyes and further north to Reims.

We left the Aire at Marcoing on a bright clear morning and stopped at the top of the hill for a quick look at the War cemetery. We carried on , on the D644 towards Soissons. This took us right through the middle of St Quentin, which had a distinct lack of road signs - we just held our nerve and kept going straight ...

... war again between us and the mozzies! With nowhere to hang our net from above the bed I used my improvisation skills and clipped it over the open window using hair clips, hair bands and anything else that would keep the buggers out!

One however outsmarted me and got in, causing Paulie to chase it around the room with a can of raid spray.

A 5:30 wake up call (two days in a row now) got us up in time to catch the 7:35 ferry to Calais. A full P&O English breakfast was well deserved. The long autoroute journey began. A longish drive got us to Reims before the kids could really work up into full 'are we there yet' mode! There we had a very interesting and tasty tour of the Taittinger ...
