... prior to the 13th C, wars, fires and a hurricane taking their toll. It was spared the ravages of both the WW's, with its elaborate facade dating from the 16th C. The stained glass windows are magnificent. The traditional rose is just beautiful, while the windows depict scenes from the bible.



Its now dark by 6pm. A slow drive home through the fading countryside ignoring the scattered raindrops.

We were now in Champagne, but we still passed through miles of arable farmland, with not a vine in site

We found the campsite - Les Rives du Lac, ACSI 14 e, easily. Only the hardstanding pitches were in use - we found a really big one.. The toilets ...

Today we had a long, long, long, long, long, lo drive (we have used the word ‘long’ for every hour so that made 5.5 hrs!) So sadly we had to say goodbye to our farmhouse style apartment and get on the road a decent time...the original plan was to leave at 8am but because we (I) have become a lazybones, we left at 9.15am :)

We had been on the road for 2 hours ...

... Elliott particularly enjoyed it! Our thirst quenched we moved on to a wander around the cathedral. Quite spectacular, Oliver not normally one for architecture was particularly keen with the camera. A short hop then took us to Troyes for the night......pizza and an early night......! Too tired to do Troyes any justice, we must leave it for another ...

... when walking. The only people unhappy with this news are likely to be the pharmacists in towns along the way, who have made good money selling me Compeed plasters by the crateload.

The only other thing that has required a medical intervention has been a sun blister on my lower lip. It happened in the first few days in France before I realised how hot the sun was on my face. It has much improved since I started using Factor 50 lip ...
