... prior to the 13th C, wars, fires and a hurricane taking their toll. It was spared the ravages of both the WW's, with its elaborate facade dating from the 16th C. The stained glass windows are magnificent. The traditional rose is just beautiful, while the windows depict scenes from the bible.



Its now dark by 6pm. A slow drive home through the fading countryside ignoring the scattered raindrops.

... dated but clean. there were 3 Brit caravans overnighting, and all heading north.
We were very disappointed with the Lake. The water level was very low, with a lot of sand/mud and a terrible rotting smell. It is an ornithological lake, but we only saw some egrets and cormorants. The First Aid hut had all sorts ...

... Art festival...who would have thought it! We decided to have lunch (which was way too filling and had us wanting to join the hippy’s in the sun for a siesta) then watched some more performances to see if they were any clearer...nope, still a load of prancing weirdo’s “expressing themselves” through the medium of dance.

We left this place so confused ...

A 5:30 wake up call (two days in a row now) got us up in time to catch the 7:35 ferry to Calais. A full P&O English breakfast was well deserved. The long autoroute journey began. A longish drive got us to Reims before the kids could really work up into full 'are we there yet' mode! There we had a very interesting and tasty tour of the Taittinger ...

I don't know whether it is my fairly new boots to blame as I got them one size larger to cope with the feet swelling normally associated with long distance walking. It may also be the case that my technical socks have lost some of their magical properties.
