... that was even more unpleasant, because while the rock climbing was hard and tiring, it was at least fun. The next part was just steep uphill hiking, but over huge sections of loose, large rocks. I would almost call it a boulder field, but the rocks weren't quite big enough, making it even more tiring and unpleasant. ... 1 was the Backyard Ale House. Nope, we didn't want to have lunch in what looked for all accounts like a dive bar. Option #2 was a place called Carl Van Luger's. ... guides were in kayaks leading, following and mixing with the rafts to help as needed.

It was a great trip - a three hour drive from home to the Whitewater Adventure Center, 13 miles on the river, and 3 more hours on the road home. .....I was dead! ......but thanks to sunscreen, not too burnt :)

4/22 - we left Myrtle Beach, SC. We really liked it there and would definitely go back.

We arrived in NC and are staying at the Raleigh Oaks RV Resort in Four Oaks, NC. Its a really nice campground - all newly renovated and in picturesque country setting. It's tough when you only stay a night - you really don't get to do/see much. We would definitely recommend this park.

Ok actually homeless dude is not a hiker, he is a homeless guy we think. Because the hostel is free and basically just open, he's here. We were careful about our stuff when going out but he seems nice enough. Often the hikers joke that the only difference between a hiker and a homeless person is Gortex.
