... Catherine ruled France as regent from her study at Chenonceau. She had the extension built over the river so there could be a ballroom for royal events.The owner of the chateau during the French revolution saved the chapel from being destroyed by using it as firewood storage. The grounds and gardens are lovely, and the sun appeared while we were there.

... at the church of St Pierre on the way. What a treat? It was the focus for this week. Everything else is a bonus. Lovely time enjoying the stained glass. What a huge building? In the process of a full restoration.

Lovely lunch in the square opposite the cathedral. Almost as expensive as the restoration! Monday, so most of the shops shut. I was looking for another cushion cover for Monty to go with the ones from last year, but no joy.
