Helen and John were as usual very attentive to me as they seem to be to all their many visitors. It is clear they love Burgundy and all its attractions and particularly the wine. The fact the Pocheron family, their landlords, have not just befriended them but almost adopted them makes it all the more enjoyable. ... sadly it had gone out of business (we don't think the French drink much beer!), so we were unfortified for the long, long walk back to the car! Weariness dictated that we take the autoroute back to Nuit-St-Georges, but luckily it was only €1.50 toll and we got home much more quickly! We were very glad we had made the trip to Dijon, a very interesting city!

... over a home-cooked meal. In the morning we departed for Dijon. We didn't buy any mustard, but we went crazy at a local patisserie. I don’t know which is better -- the simple thrill of hopping off your barge and buying fresh, hot French pastries or actually eating them. Probably both in equal measure.
