      ... else in the world. Bella Vista Road took us to some spectacular views of the northern end Okanagan Lake, then into Okanagan Landing and back into town where we stopped at Helmut’s Sausage Kitchen for some home-made sausage rolls and Ukrainian Ham Sausage – very lean. Unfortunately I forgot the camera, so will have to go back for some pics on another nice day.

      Sept 27th was a Thanksgiving dinner at Swan Lake - thanks to the Swan Lake ...

      ... t enough jetways for all the planes that depart from Frankfurt. I was surprised to find an automated system for processing departing passengers. Rather than an agent looking at the Passport and Boarding Pass, it was only necessary to place the bar code on the boarding pass against a reader, and the gate opened.

      The bus departed within a few minutes, and it was a long ride out to the “back 40” of the airport, past rows of neatly ...

      ... me to sign a petition, anyone with their hand out and even the street vendors on the waterfront weren’t pushy or aggressive. One reason for this discrepancy between reputation and personal experience could be the heavy Police presence that I noticed everywhere, especially along La Rambla and in Plaša Catalunya. Teams of two armed officers seemed to be patrolling everywhere.

      ... girls come out the stalls, one at a time, and race to each barrel, do a full circuit of each one then back to the stall. The first was a girl of about 4 who gently trotted around, a little boy whose horse had to be dragged around then the really fast ladies. Tremendous skills.

      Then popped into a vintage motorcycle & car show at the O'Keefe Ranch where they also had Flat Track ...

      Drive from Whistler to Vernon was a bit scary and beautiful through the mountains. It was raining and we kept seeing 'avalanche area' warning signs and we went through a 'first nation' Indian reservation which felt like we had entered a scene in the movie Deliverance with lots of old wooden shacks with verandahs and junk piled up in all the yards.

      Kamloops was like stepping back in time to my youth in Denver circa 1983 with fast food chains A&W, ...
