    After a whistle stop tour of what felt like most of Turkey, we decided to have a few days off from sightseeing and go and sit on the beach. So we hopped on a bus and headed to Bulgaria where we planned to do not very much just north of Varna on the Black Sea coast. It was on the way to Romania (our next stop), so nice and handy.

    ... long shorts'. We got paired up with a Rumanian couple. We have never met any Rumanians before and if these were the norm I'm looking forward to the next lot. We had a really great round together; she was a very good golfer, he had a really bad day... but he managed to keep it together ( well almost, until he threw his driver into the bushes....).     ... me to play golf in Oman two years ago, amazing coincidence! We were very pleased to see him and had a drink with him afterwards. The course itself was a bit dull, Charlie kept putting his balls into bunkers and getting cross; I relaxed and enjoyed the wild flowers and did rather well.

    Dinner overlooking the Black Sea under an equally black sky (looking stormy again) completed a great day.

    ... greens etc. Charlie had a fun time, lost a few balls in the sea but found a lot while searching for his own in the meadows of flowers. It was a great and memorable day of golf.

    Went to Balchik for supper tonight. Nice little sea side town with a string of restaurants along the harbour wall. We eat a nice meal while watching the amazing lightning storms which we have been seeing ...

    ... said when do you think the music will stop? Midnight I should think I said thinking well it will probably quieten down at about 11.30. We shut the windows and discovered the A/C did not work but it was only go to be for a little while then we could open the windows... At 2.00am it was loud at 3.00am it was louder still and at dawn the music was still going. At 9.00am it was so quiet it was like a ghost town. This was out of season, amazing, ...
