    ... and a little door to a minaret and balcony where she used to sit. Lots of photos of her here in the '20's and '30's made it very real. She wrote a book called 'My Lifeas a Crown Princess' which was apparently very successful in the UK and USA. I'll be looking out for it.

    Back then (minor brush with the law when we were pulled over for driving without headlights) for an hour on the beach - lovely late afternoon sun - and now doing this before going out to eat.

    ... is rubbish at home!


    Now back again for evening spruce up before dinner. Hoping to find somewhere a bit more sedate tonight. Last night we walked along the main street and the sea front, but it was mostly loud, busy bars. I think this is the kind of place that party animals would love - out at 11pm, party all night and barely see daylight before they start again. Obviously, just made for us!

    Come back Igor, all is forgiven! - Definitely the 'b' team on duty at breakfast this morning, but compensated by the lovely sunshine. I always think the day has started well if I have to wear my sunglasses to breakfast.

    I don't know who was the most relieved that we were able to pay our bill and checkout - us or the receptionist who had tried our cards last night. Still, it was a lovely comfortable hotel and I could quite happily have spent ...

    On our return from Pobiti Kamani at about half past one, we spent the rest of the day exploring in the sunshine. First impressions were of a very pleasant city, filled with colourful buildings, flower stalls, leafy trees, pink blossom and the unmistakeable smell of sea air.
