Back to civilization
... hard boiled eggs, country bread toast, fresh baked croissants...which filled us up way too much. It was then that I aske Nino to call my cousin Diego to let him know we were coming and that we didn't have a phone to call him. They spent about 10 minutes on the phone just talking, but Nino set the time for our arrival, which had really worried me as I didn't know how i was going to call Diego otherwise. No marmite, just rain
... away, other than the active marathon runners and water sports enthusiasts.
I would recommend staying in either Riva del Garda or Torbole as a good base from which to explore. If you are a keen cyclist or walker, then there is more than just the watersports to enjoy and if you just want to sit back and put your feet up... that would work too - just pick a warmer time of year as it would be a bit chilly sitting around in much less than a t.shirt at this time of year.

Hiking ahead of the marathon
... dry along the route. The climb back down, of course is easier but it is difficult to stay upright with the numerous loose stones underfoot.
Tomorrow Lake Garda hosts a marathon which according to the web is expecting 65,000 visitors and therefore the roads are close around the Northern end of the Lake... so it will be another en foot option for us and hopefully a trip down to Torbole and the Marmite Giant :).

Otzi the Iceman
... a recently missing climber. Each person brought on board revised the date of death back a few centuries, until it was confirmed that Otzi died around 5300 yrs ago. There was a tussle between countries, until Italy claimed Otzi by proving that he was found 96m inside their border, a precise figure. The museum is very interesting, somehow they have filled 5 floors with information and background, including the loopy letters ...
