... and i had a rewarding day exploring it. It was the place where the Spanish entered Mexico and became their first settlement, so lots of history. Wandered around a fort, went to see some manatees in an aquarium (they weren´t there) and got chatting to a local historian at the Museum. It was a nice little spot to break up my journey, but i have got my first overnight bus tonight!

I can't wait to do it again in Puebla.

I'm making this short as I have to leave for the buses soon but I'm posting some of the pictures that I took last night :) Hopefully in Puebla or Mexico City - our final stop before Europe - I'll be able to find someone to record one of my songs and I'll post it on here as well.

Take care all! See you in Puebla (hopefully with Internet!)

Love, Megan
This person refused to listen and cooperate.

And later, as the rest of the cast helped our new "grandparents" with their exercises, this person sat in a corner.

On the bus, I struggled to make sense of the situation. I was frustrated, almost mad at this person because of his/her negative attitude. What makes this person feel that it is acceptable to sit out on an activity ...
Veracruz, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico meluebke... a great thing to witness!

Our lunch in Antigua consisted of rice, a tamale with pork, and a fried pepper. Yes, I tried everything. No, I did not appreciate the taste of everything. All part of soaking in the local culture! :)

We had some free time to explore Antigua and I bought some local jewelry while visiting there. I also made the treacherous journey across a rickety bridge over some murky alligator-infested water in Antigua. I ...

Veracruz, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico meluebke... coming Sunday's meal, the look on their faces was that of complete disgust. I told them I was going to make "comida de perrito" which is literally puppy food in Spanish.

Imagine thinking that your host daughter was making a dog food dessert!

I can't wait to see their faces after they have tried some :)

Do you know what Puppy Chow is? Well, you should. Try to make it sometime! It's a great food to make for a night in with a movie and company. Just be careful ...

It was most recently used as a prison. It was used as the "fort" in the filming of "Romancing the Stone". We went out for a nice seafood/steak dinner down by the beach, and now to bed.
Veracruz, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico kjmyers... The watch crew were slumped around the boat exhausted. Everyone was beat from days of constant heat, slack sails and gently rolling seas. It was as if we had given up. Salty salt Joel told me to forget making the effort. There was absolute NO breeze and there was nothing we could do. Of course, I wouldn't listen and roused the crew from sleep. We trimmed the sails again and when nothing happened most of the watch went below to get ...
Veracruz, Mexico lavidanueva... being rotated on a constant basis. After that experience we decided to stretch our legs some more and walked down closer to the docks. ¡Surprise! There, next to the big container ships unloading goods and with the Naval base on the other side there was a band from Mexico City playing and every one was dancing in the street. They had chairs set up for people to sit and watch wich we did for a while. Tango, Salsa, Rumba, Merengue, you name it they ...
Veracruz, Mexico chrissybz... big cities much then, nor could I handle them very well. I still don’t like them much, though I can handle them much better now. Veracruz is pretty large itself, but laid-back. But it’s hot, the summer coming on fast in the tropics. I make tracks up north, next stop Tampico.
