      ... on the A13 virtually to Paris before doubling back to Chartres. Another long way round, it seemed, but Tom-Tom was happy with the route and it gave us an easier run on the toll road (apart, of course, from the inevitable accident and huge queues near to Paris).       ... obscure alley there it was - a completely full up surf lodge! They kindly recommended another called Koala just around the corner. Here I was greeted by an aggressive dog who was taken aback by my sheer lack of fear at his attack and contented himself by sitting and watching as I walked by to chat to his owner. This guy was a super cool American surf dude, tanned and blond, but even he could not help me out as the Koala too was full ...

      ... only English wasn't a problem, it was the start of the holidays too so everywhere was packed. The purchase of our bikes immediately started paying off, that afternoon we rode into town and checked out some street markets, purchased some butcher style chorizo, real Camembert from a cheese deli and some crackers. We are able to save petrol and give the car a rest by leaving it in one spot, plus we are getting some exercise...win ...
