    ... a palpable tension in the air. Cyclist weren't smiling, everyone was in a hurry, drivers and cyclist alike were aggressively driving and riding. We felt decidedly uneasy out of our country haven.

    In Switzerland cyclist dismount in pedestrian areas, in Germany cyclist slow and give pedestrians right of way as do drivers for cyclists. In Strasbourg (France) it's clearly every man (or woman) for themselves.
