... in a day. The best advice to seeing Venice is to wander away from the touristy locations, the city is quite empty and almost a ghost town in certain locations. It was good to see the city before it sinks.

... a run down, damp, contorted mess like Venice. Our AirBnB host wasn't there, but some teenage boy & his father was. They didn't have the WiFi password and I wanted a nap. Not a happy day. ... to Lido for some unknown reason, and the gondoleer asks if we would like a ride. The water is still motionless and no other boats were around to make torrentuous wakes, so I decide there's no risk of severe motion sickness.
It is not long before we are back on the dock and say our goodbyes. I make my way back to the apartment without a mosquito in site.And there, my soft, warm bed awaits me so that I can dream about my perfect day.

The urban construction of Venice is highly medieval in layout, as all of the buildings are oriented to the network of canals.
