We have actually hit “lucky” in that we will experience both the GP AND the Cannes Film Festival so depending on your point of view it has been a bonus.
Encouraged by our nice experience in Nice we again used TT to find a parking lot on our route into the town (to avoid having to fight through the centre traffic) This worked quite well on the way in (apart from the usual mad bikers and people who seem to think they can ...

... exit spit us out into a construction site. Some abandoned building was being remodeled and that was what we had emerged from the tunnel into. The exit signs pointed us to a set of stairs that only led up, so we climbed. After emerging at the top we realized we were in the middle of a construction site at the edge of a road that was full of exposed electrical wires and heavy machinery.

Leah wanted to return to the tunnel, but I refused. ...

... nice, and they're all walking SLOWLY. Tomorrow, then, I will take the train the 10 minute hop to a smaller seaside village we passed on the way here - it is also recommended by the hostel staff. But the beach here is not going to be a highlight of the city. It's a beautiful area to walk around in, with many delicate and light-coloured buildings. Also many stores, with a range of affordability's. But at first I think dinner will be hard - wanted to eat out and have fish in ...
