    ... driver up to 1900m.

    We then caught a fun cable car ride up to 2500m.

    From there we climbed in a special 4wd bus to take us to the official crater zone at 2920m.

    You feel like you are on a movie set of Mars, with black lava gravel, rocks and ash.

    It was awesome walking around an area that had only last erupted in 2002.

    ... b/c of light rain. Back in Taormina we are having a late lunch at the Q Lounge. Charming garden place beneath the biggest bougainvillea I have ever seen. The tablecloths coordinate with the flowers. We've done some shopping but things are more expensive than the US. Our flight leaves tonight at 11 PM for Malta. Toured the Excelsior Palace hotel and garden grounds...on cliff overlooking the sea. 100 year old ...
