... streets and narrow lanes were a welcome departure from the hustle and bustle of Nice. A quick scoot round, and we headed off to our next stop, Grasse. Grasse was not what we expected or led to believe. Maybe it was the journey or maybe it was just compared to Vence, but Grasse was not a slight on what we hoped for. By this stage it is lunchtime, and after only one more accidental detour around the palacial mansions on the pine clad hillside, we fnid our way out of the town and back towards Aix en Provence. A shopping centre with a self-service Flunch restaurant beckons, and we are successful in procuring a light lunch of tomato and ...

... It was actually really good, thank goodness. We have limited supplies at this point and I wasn't about to buy anything more.

We pack tonight. I've got 3 of the 5 backpacks well packed but the other 2 have lots of room. Which is good because I have 3 reusable grocery bags filled with shoes, jackets, and souvenirs. I'll repack in Verona before we get on the train to Salzburg.
