Lovely Laos
Decided to take the plane to Luang Prabang, Laos instead of the usual 2-3 day bus/boat ride. It was only later that we heard that the guidebooks strongly urge people NOT to fly Laos Airlines based on their safety record. Our first night in LP, we ate at L'Elephant, a nice French restaurant that was recommended to us by Meredith from Chiang Mai. The bus ride from Luang Prabang was absolutely stunning. Lush mountains framed most of the road and made the winding road much more enjoyable.
When we arrived in Vang Vieng, the hotel we had book was actually full, so we ended up in another hotel for two nights before moving to a much cheaper guesthouse.

The cheapest way to get to Laos from Thailand is by boat, only this takes three days and with us being stuck for time we took the easy option, to fly there.
