... spectacular, rich in diversity, attractive, natural paradise’ all in one paragraph on the first page. Seems like someone knows how to use a Thesaurus! Located 20mins by ferry off Townsville’s coast, we spent a day with mountain bikes and snorkel gear exploring as much as we could. White sand beaches and aqua waters - my kind of island. Rather hilly however, over 20% gradient on some hills. The day turned into a spin class ...
Cape Tribulation, Queensland, Australia pacificocean... br>
The stunning Mossman Gorge, just 80km up the coast from Port Douglas, has a fast running river which tumbles over huge rocks as it runs through dense rainforests. There are crystal clear swimming holes where, if you are lucky, you can see turtles swimming. I watched a basking turtle for several minutes before I realised it was a couple of rocks pretending to be a turtle. We then went to ...
Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia chris-barbara... on and throughout the rest of the cruise we saw 3 more! We saw one which was about 5 foot long, one which was about 3 foot long and I (Nat) spotted a baby hatchling only a foot long lying on a log out in the middle of the river which was so cute. And then before we knew it our cruise was over and we were clambering back into the van for the next adventure. But we were incensed with excitement and energy after our fantastic boat ride. We then drove slowly North ...
Cape Tribulation, Queensland, Australia jimandnat... we have another couple of trips planned for later in the week. The temperature is in the 30s and very humid - we are in the wet tropics and you can certainly tell! Our last night at Kingfisher Bay on Fraser Island was lovely, we grew very fond of it the short time we were there. We did a night walk and saw a snake, a toxic toad and lots of stingrays. The plan is to finally put some photos on later, thinking of you all Love R&J xxx
Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia rosieehill... kristallklart, kallt vatten.
Cape Tribulation, Queensland, Australia edtaepn... adult saltwater crocodiles can potentially eat any animal within its range, including monkeys, kangaroos, wild boar, dingos, goannas, birds, domestic livestock, pets, water buffalo, gaurs, sharks, and humans, among other large animals as well. Along the way, Mary was allowed to drive the boat. We also saw a tube snake, surprisingly I was able to stand pretty close to it and check it out along with the guide and Sarah, while ...
Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia chiapoe... Num, it was packed and a live band was playing. I called Richard and Lili and they came to meet me up at the hostel with some friends. We all checked out a bit of Chinese New Year before their friends departed and we took the train down to South Bank for Australia Day celebarations. We walked around South Bank for a bit and past the inland swimming lagoon (which totally spanks the Cairns lagoon for size), it was pretty busy with people ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia clairebr... cross-section of people there, a few Brits our age and some younger couples on their honeymoons. The return trip to Sydney on Friday was very easy with a comfortable ride to the airport, simple check-in and we were allocated exit row seats again. After a very agreeable meal we were soon back in Sydney on time at 4pm. We caught the train back to Circular Quay and met David for the ferry ride back to Manly where Cheryl had dinner waiting for us.
