... truffle-hunting expedition with pigs or dogs. It sounds interesting if a bit touristy, and I didn’t encounter any such offerings while I was in Istria even though such tours are offered at high prices on the Internet. What I did find, though, in Istria was plenty of restaurants serving dishes with truffles. I tried some truffle dishes before in Perugia in Italy when I was there in 2003 and have to admit to their appeal. The little fungal nubs that grow along the root ...

    Piran - Slovenian Istria

Slovenia has only 16 miles of coastline, not much compared to Croatia's thousands of miles of coast when you include all of its islands and peninsulas. Trieste to Rovinj

We all over slept today and didn't get to breakfast at 7:30 as planned so clearly we could never stayed up until 3 as we talked about in the airport as a way of making up for our lost day in Trieste. That kind of adventure was realistic at this stage of our lives. Had a lovely breakfast and an exceptional young waiter showered us with attention and kept bringing us capo inns without our asking. What a change! We walked ...
