ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilman... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city IŽd love to visit once a year minimum.....
Nice, Provence, France tilman... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!
More when I start travelling...
... choice of routes and directions given. A classic is where we are on a main road with a slight bend and there is a goat track leading off the road. She tells us to turn right to avoid the goat track and stay on the highway... Sound advice, I would never have thought...Kim laughs as I often engage in conversation with Mary why she instructed me to go one way but blatantly ignored informing me about an important turn which I only noticed from looking at her screen. Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... that we were still in french territory, we feasted on delish pastries galore. Dee sampled her first proper French choc eclair...OH MY GOD was her reaction! Lewey even had dessert envy, and we both laughed at the fact that our tea cost more than the dessert (so very cheap in France for the desserts, bad bad bad as we are rapidly tripling our size, wondering how we will fit on the plane home)!
Feeling a little too much like a backpacker, and needing a tidy up before donning a bathing ...

... out our reservations to go to Munich the next day. This reservation business is by far the most annoying thing about our trip. We have our Eurail pass, but that's not enough. We have to pay extra money for seats on the busy trains. But you already know this, I'm just repeating myself. We got to the train station at 8 a.m., because that's when some random guy told us the ticket office opened. However, he was wrong and the office didn't open until 9:30. We killed some time and ate ...
Nice, Provence, France laceymh... and spent a few minutes checking out the interior of an old palace that was open to the public. Interestingly enough, it housed an exhibit that paid homage to American jazz. For dinner, we revisited the moules et frites place and it was just as delicious as the previous night. We enjoyed our time in Nice and will, no doubt, journey here again. After all, it is almost like Paris...without the Metro and museums...oh, and with a beach.
Nice, Provence, France berniandjay... out of the station) and it takes a while to realise that you're actually going forward to a new destination but facing a different way. The train is running close to the coast now but we are separated from the sea by hedges and houses through which we get tantalizing glimpses of the rocky shore. Every house has a swimming pool but still there are long queues for the flumes at a lido we pass. We stop in Toulon; a place that (from the train at least) appears ...
Nice, Provence, France jenpedI have always loved to show off about my super human immune system...since i pretty much never get sick, and i was 25 the first time i ever got the flu! so of all places to be sick now, i am sick in the freaking french riviera!! booo...it has been raining in every single city i've been to, and i always walk around in my flip flops in the rain, so i guess now ...
