Venice is very busy and crowded with tourists but yesterday morning I got up early and headed out before the day stared for most. I took photos of the Rialto bridge with no people on it and Saint Mark's Square with more pigeons and seagulls than people. Of course later things got busy again. ... to a Swiss roll spiral. Our hotel is on the inside and now we were travelling on the outside. Itvs a great trip to fluke as we travelled right round including past the cruise ships and where we had first been dropped off by taxi when we arrived. Just to let you all know, we have no regrets on any places we have visited, we have been very fortunate to travel on the adventure we have but there is always going to be places that I wouldn't go back to. (This doesn't mean the rest of the family feel the same) Venice is one of them. By ...

... day: 3 euros for bus tickets and another 2 for a slice of pizza - I’m getting better at the whole ‘living cheap’ thing.
    Thursday 5/12
Packed nice and early, I left my bags at a hostel near Venezia-Mestre station and got the bus to the island one last time, this time heading straight for St Mark’s Cathedral to marvel at its magnificent ceiling, gilded and frescoed, many elaborate altars and floor, badly warped and bumpy due to the instability of ...
