    ... our luggage back down the 2 or 3 flights of stairs and then walking a long way to the terminal building to check in. Having sailed out of Venice last year, we knew that even once we got to the terminal, we would then have had to walk/drag luggage to the very far end of the building to turn it in.     ... coax you into their restaurant, they’ll usually waive the fee. We got especially lucky, because the kind waiter waived our sitting fee, our tax, our water (because for some reason this country is ass-backwards and doesn’t give you free water, which again I protested) and even gave us free dessert. You may recall, the last time Signora was alone in a city, Seville back in March, her backpack was rifled.     We took another stroll to San Marco Piazza and on to Rialto to see if we could get some night pictures. Turned out ok. Pity that San Marco was having renovation works on two major buildings at either end of the piazza, and even worse that one end had this huge advertisement draped all over the scaffold! At least in other countries where I've seen works on historic buildings, they actually cover the scaffold with a print of what the building facade looks like ...
