OK, so we're living on an Olive Farm for a while now.
Bohemian? Yes
Practical? Only when its sunny and only when its not olive picking season.
So what season is it now? Olive picking and its raining.
Welcome to our own little corner of Glastonbury
Lake Como is slightly more picturesque than L Maggiore if that's possible. After doing the logistics we worked out it would be better to take the hydrofoil from Como to Bellagio rather than the slow boat from Lecc; a distinct possibility being Lauren would want to disembark before we reached our destination.
If Lake Como is a person then Bellagio is nestled in the nether ...
... nearby. The main thing that i wanted to see was the tomb of the Diver since we had heard so much about it and how well it was preserved. I was impressed but that's a perfect example of something that i wish i had an exact definition of what the tomb meant. We can see that it is a man diving into the water, but what is the significance of him diving? I like to think that its him diving into the afterlife. Once the museum tour was over we decided to ...
Paestum, Campania, Italy twn5017... one of the people who died. We could still see where the shore originally was. There most people were found who tried to escape to the sea. Herculeneum was a fishing village in between sea and Vesuvius.People protected the village against the water and forgot the lava!
Napoli, Italy leijen_ova... choice castle. Bear in mind we landed there four hours after we left Stabia... but whatever. The back up castle was nice and we liked it. Yesterday was class day and so is tomorrow, but today we took an hour and a half long bus ride through the Italian cliffes and countryside to Paestum, Italy. It was an amazing site of Greek ruins, an entire partially preserved city with three temples and even fully ...
Paestum, Campania, Italy pizzaagogoland... we want some clear air. We found some for a few precious hours at Paestum. The site was really deep in weeds. The grass was beautiful and the flowers were out of this world. What a wonderful vision. We visited the museum, looked into the 5th century paleo-Christian church and walked the ruins. We ...
Paestum, Campania, Italy robcoyle... It really was inspiring to know that this - for our family's history - was where so much began... and as one might expect, it made us want to know more about our heritage. [Joseph's observation: "It was simply wonderful to see Dad so intrigued and curious about the city... I was able to capture a couple of photos of him when he wasn't looking, so you can see what I mean."] We stopped for lunch at an italian restaurant called, Pepe Nero, where we had a ...
Salerno, Italy jmontano... for farming to grow their delectable goods. The weather during the day was warm, while the evenings would quickly cool. I am convinced that layering is the best way to survive in that town. The views are spectacular and since we are so high up in the mountains the sun always seemed to shine and share it's breath-taking sunsets. I would be remiss if I did not share how beautiful the evening skies were... The stars (stele in Italian- new name Louie ...
cerazo, Emilia-Romagna, Italy seekingcindy... to relax, hike and admire the views - particularly if shopping isn't your thing. Villa Jovis was Emperor Tiberius' home from which he ruled the Roman Empire during the last decade of his life (about 30AD). It is now in ruin, but it is a great 45 minute hike from town and is very interesting to wander through. We were in Capri a bit early in the season - it was hot in the sun, chilly in the shade and cold at night - so we ...
Cinque Terre, Naples area, Amalfi, Paestum, Lake Como, Italy chronometers... everyone else's standards) shirt. I went ahead and put on some make-up. Maybe I could detract people from paying attention to the things coming out of my mouth if they were thinking about what a pretty mouth it was. So I made my attempt and went downstairs to meet Sibi and co. Sibi arrived and a few minutes later a Gap model walked in. He was blonde with just the right amount of scruff, a navy blue sweater zipped up over a rockin' t-shirt and jeans. I already liked Italy ...
