... nothing as good as to what I remember from 2012. Perhaps its all down to the wet rainy weather I'm riding in today or have I just got so use to seeing such glorious scenery that I don't see it being that good anymore??

The roads were really quite flooded around here with loads of surface water and so it was pretty slow going. With so many twists and turns there was not much time to look at the scenery as all concentration was keeping the bike upright on these ...

Today was a long ride (440km) on the motorway from Podstrana to Opatja near RIJEKA. I woke up to a blue morning sky and was hoping that it would stay that way for the rest of the day. It was time to say good bye to Mrs Mikrut and her daughter Tanja who made me so welcome in their spotless villa.
I rode the 10km coastal road to Split before hitting the ...

... Curicum. The walls and three Venetian city gates are still visible. There are also some really beautiful Renaissance-era buildings, the Roman baths and the cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption (from about 1100) on the square and many other Romanesque churches and buildings, castle, narrow dark streets in the old town. And then, when you take one of the gates and go beyond – you see a different world, much more modern, much more ...
