Monte Carlo, an unbelievable place

... or as they say, American) style gaming.

I had a relaxing time. Bit of shopping, eating, drinking and walking around just admiring the wealthy end of the world. It is expensive tho. Meals and drinks are way over-priced (about $17 aussie for a Johnny Walker & coke!). You even have to pay to use the toilet at the shopping centre and main tourist areas. I won some money at the main casino, then lost it (and some more) at the hotel ...

I'm in Monte Carlo baby!

Well, I am writing this entry from Switzerland. Sitting at the Geneva airport. My flight from Barcelona to Geneva (to connect onto a flight to Nice) was delayed and then delayed again which meant I missed my connecting flight. Was originally angry about this cause I have lost a day of travel time, but it has given me the opportunity to sort some photos and begin my Monte Carlo relax period. Was fortunate that there was a later flight with seats available and that ...

Long Long beach

We didnt do much in Cannes except go to the beach. Got there pretty early and were only planning on spending the day and night but then the realisation dawned that it might be the last chance to be at the beach again. SO... we decided to stay another night and have a final day at the beach. We took a walk around the old town ...

The most amazing cars ever

POLSKI:
Pociag do Monte Carlo, w obie strony, kosztowal mnie cale 5 Euro, a jazda trwala 15-20 minut. Widoki sliczne, ale najlepsza byla jednak Starowka Monte Carlo oraz samochody ...

Beside the seaside...

... the whole town was having a fishing festival, dedicated to St Peter, the patron saint of fishermen, and we were rewarded with a bit of folklore in the form of traditional dancing and music. We were by now very thirsty and (with some difficulty - it was very busy) finally found a shady table at a restaurant-bar. Here at last, the mystery of the 12 noon / 1.30pm mixed messages about the Tour was unfolded. As 12 noon approached, a massive ...

... overlooking the sea. Once we reached the palace grounds, the views were spectacular - you could see the yachts and ships in the harbor, surrounded by the mountains. Matthew and Emma looked in the souvenir shops while I commandiered a spot to watch the changing of the guard. It was fun to see - much more pomp and circumstance than I remember seeing at Buckingham Palace in London. Once the ceremony was ...

The Car

... car park hewed out of the solid rock beneath Old Monaco. You park at astronomical fees, then ascent by stairs and escalators to the ancient alleys of Old Monaco. http://www.monaco.mc/monaco/info/aleisu re.html. We emerge from the car park beside the impressive Oceanographic Institute and Museum, perched vertiginously on the edge of a cliff. Prince Albert I was an avid oceanographer and created this project, which funded may of the expeditions of Jacques Cousteau.
