    Said our farewells to everyone this morning and then we set out for the old Olympic stadium. On the way there we witnessed the changing of soldiers at their post which was kinda cool. Looking back over the main centre it became very evident that the town had been built to emulate Athens and the Acropolis in the way that it sits up on the hill and over looks the city. Naxos' main centre is obviously tiny compared to Athens but has a castle which sits at the top of a wee hill overlooking the buildings and the similarities are clear.     ... trip only took 1/2 tank of petrol but it seems like we drove so much more than that. Our first stop outside of Naxos Town was to the Temple of Dionysus. He is the Greek god of theatre, wine harvest and wine making, and inebriation. He may have had too much wine the night before because this site was closed. As we found out later most places are closed Mondays; luckily this didn't affect us again. The next place we stopped at was at our first beach town. ...

    ... impossible to do research ahead of time - luckily I'm a go with the flow type! I met with Rebekah - it's funny we had pretty much the exact same travel schedule (but lack of schedule)! Now she is off to NY before she heads home to NZ. We comemmorated our parting with Greek frozen yogurt and Mythos Greek Beer! My hostel had a rooftop terrace with a beautiful view of the Acropolis.
