... marble. It is quarried and then transported using special trucks requiring a special licence down to the towns of Carreras and Massa. All along the road there were fenced sites with huge slabs of marble. It was from here that Michael Angelo got his marble for the statue of David.
It is Sunday today so the driving was good as semi trailers are not allowed on the tollways from 5pm on Saturday until 10pm on Sunday. Only trucks carrying fresh fruit ...

... us dry. Thank you Gocomo. He chats with us about life in Italy and what his does and his little boy Andres and finally our airbnb contact comes (he is soaked from riding his bike) and we get the key. The apartment is gorgeous, probably the best one we had stayed in. It is recently renovated and so everything is brand new. We unpack a little and wait for the rain to subside before we even attempt to go to lunch.

Lunch is at a close cafe. The folks here do siestas so a lot of ...

... ghetto speaker (to which we named her Camomyl (Camomile with a Y)) and where a married couple were being photographed. We even made it in the background in one if their pictures, as of course, the bride was made to stand right in the middle of everyone on the staircase while we all had to look at her clapping. Cheese at it’s finest!

I watched yet another sunset here, and I had another one of those still moments. A mere 48 hours prior I was watching ...

... only. We walked down the street to the Duomo and walked around this beautiful masterpiece. The crowds were a little overwhelming so we set off to Palazzo Vecchio and the Piazza del Signorio. Again the crowds were pretty impressive, so we snuck off to the side with the statues and enjoyed sitting in the shade for a bit an people watching. They make you stick to the rules....they have bouncers who give you grief if you dare to lay down ...

... and then went to the graveyard that is also in the square, this was very cool. During WW2, this place had a grenade low it up and destroy everything, since then all they've done is attempt to rebuild it all. They've done a wonderful job. After this we met up with the group and jumped on a train to Cinque Terre. In the first town we went to we had some lunch in a cliff side restaurant, which only serves local produce, in fact the wine is made less than 1km ...
