... greatness, but also the simplicity. It's just pure genius!! After our day in Pisa, we walked back from the train station to our hotel for a rest, all this walking from day one of our trip is getting exhausting. Oh well, there was just one more thing we had to do and that was to go to Piazzale Michelangelo. Being a 4km walk just to get there I was sure my legs and body could go the distance...it wasn't until we got there that I realised ...

Then we packed up our lunch and went into Florence today. We took the bus just like the locals and did the Basilica of Santa Croce; which was very beautiful. The piazza outside this church was a little lacking in flowers and fountains compared to Assisi. The inside however was once again massive. ... of a hill on the farm. To begin we had home made bread with organic extra virgin olive oil (from their farm), then we had pasta (home made from scratch with their own wheat) with bolognaise sauce, then pork and potatoes and finished of with Tuscan almond biscuits. 99% of what we ate was grown on their farm and it was such a lovely meal. We also enjoyed 1 white wine and 2 different red wines from their vineyard as well as a dessert wine. ...

... After painting our toe nails we headed out again towards the river and found what seemed to be the more classier part of Florence, Louis Vuitton and Gucci stores. We found a bookstore and Ally bought 2 books for train reading and we found a beautiful ornate theatre which was showing an English movie at 5.30, so we decided to look at more shops and return. ... down to Ponte S Trinita Bridge,along the Arno River to Piazza della Signoria, the location of Palazzo Vecchio, once the home of the Medici family. The palace is beautiful inside with its coffered, gilded ceilings and magnificant Grand Hall. Be sure to see the square at night with all the statues lit.
