There have been far too many exceptional moments during this trip to pick a favorite in any category. The Singhalese people were happy and smiling, liked Americans, respected grandmothers and helped Carmen and I in any way they could. They were eager to share their remarkable country and heritage and proud of the variety that is within this one full-of-wonders island. A picture says a thousand words so I will attach several to this ...
... a living. We understand that and that is the way they operate. But when you say No too many times to the same person and they continue to annoy you that is when it becomes frustrating. Each morning a giant turtle would come into the shallows- temped in by the locals offering some yummy looking sea weed) and was tame enough for us to be able to stepped into the clear water with him and feed him! It was an amazing experience and ...
We visited lovely Galle on our way along the coast
Its famous for its cricket and also for getting abliterated in the Tsumani - well, isn't all Sri Lanka famous for that!
Galle is beautiful! Its in 2 parts- the main town centre and the Old Fort area which sticks out to sea
We explored both, the main town is hectic and buzzing with life, with food sellers offering amazing fruits, to flowers, shoes, king coconuts and of course tuk tuks!
