... my pack was light! It's not too heavy just bulky when you move around & you can't have it on your back on the buses. If I'm going to fit more souvenirs I'm going to have to post some clothes back home when we get to the UK. About 1/4 of my clothes could go. Keep one set to wear, wash one & one spare. Next trip I'm packing ultra light. The next person that comments on my back pack looks heavy & bulky is going to get a black eye! The trip down the grand canal ...

On more than one occasion I wondered if tourists in Venice lose not only their luggage but their whole hotel as ...

... Venice Saint Lucia. After that there's no trains and no cars or buses.

'Busy' doesn't even begin to describe the scene outside Venice Saint Lucia station. As one of the two main landing hubs for tourists it's a chaotic circus of people dragging bags, people looking lost and people taking pictures. Some people are doing all three. My directions were already written out so I decided the pictures could wait until I didn't have sixteen-plus kilograms sitting on ...

Four Seasons (but not in one day)

Tamara has wanted to visit the Rialto Bridge since she first started potting and made a model out of clay, so that's the priority site on today's agenda. We are staying down near St Marks so have to cross the island to get there. Map in hand, we navigate our way through the lanes. In doing so, we pass the opera house ' La Fenice' so named because it has burned down twice and has arisen from the ashes. We saw that you can go in and look ...
