... was very nice, but the sand was lined with private lounge chair and umbrella rental areas, and apart from that, there wasn’t an ounce of shade in sight. Mikey and I didn’t come prepared and didn’t have a picnic blanket or umbrella and had forgotten the sun cream! We’re still learning! We drove back to Lucca instead and found a picnic table along the river where we had previously ridden the bikes, and had a much quieter and shadier picnic sitting there! ...
... except he kept banging it on the window. At least every minute. They seemed to be a pain in the tour guide’s butt too because they kept wandering off and she had to keep a constant eye on them to make sure they stayed with us.
It wasn’t a terribly long drive to Pisa, about an hour or so and the bus couldn’t get to the main entrance so they parked in a large lot with a bunch of other buses similar to ours. The tour guide warned ...
... were picked up by Matteo (The farm owners son) and Bruno (his uncle) in a big red camper bus thingy and we sped off to Grosseto. We arrived to wine and food, were shown our holiday apartment that we were staying in. Took pictures of the beautiful Italian Olive Farm scenery from the landing whilst drinking more wine and went to bed looking forward to our first day of olive
... to see the tower. It was about a 30 minute walk through some beautiful old streets along cafe, restaurants and shops. When we arrived at the tower, it looked fake to see it in real life. We all had the same thought - just to see it in front of you after only seeing it in print and television before was a true experience. After a few photos we headed back to the train station for transfer onwards ...
... if you want they sell supplement books...green books...get it....that describe the marked routes. I've yet to ride a green road that wasn't great.
So the hotel in Trento gave us a map (tip 4.5 Best western hotels give out Michelin maps). My challenge is to make a route maximizing the green roads......but wee still need to get there......where ever that is.....lot of humming an hawing.....eventually settled on the town ...
