      ... it was a real effort to stroll by the lake, despite its beauty! Anyway, after a slow walk, and a brief exploration of the shops, we stopped for a coffee and a few games of cards before seeing Olivia off on her train to Lyon.

      ... inside wasn't too special and there was no place to look out over the city. If you ever go, I recommend skipping the basilica, and the hike up there!

      Definitely a beautiful day trip but there isn't a whole lot to do when the carnival isn't in full swing. I would love to go back in the warmer months to see the caves around the back of the mountains, they sound absolutely wonderful!

      ... the 6:30 train and when that was confirmed I got to go home a bit early so I could relax and get some sleep.

      Overall it was a pretty good birthday. I'll remember it and my solo day trip for a long time, but I miss not spending my birthday with my friends at home, but next weekend I'm meeting up with friends from home in Paris and I'm REALLY excited.

      ... snow fall for the first time in our lives. It was absolutely amazing and being able to play in it made me feel completely nostalgic for childhood, but in a good way.
