... 500 km of bike trails, but today we decided to stick to the coastal path heading into the national park. The dry heat and smell of the forest reminded us of Australia. All the way along the track were Rocky beaches and people swimming and sunbathing. Every now and then we would have to make a detour around the naturist parks (there were a few). Just for a laugh I was tempted to strip off and cycle naked through one of these areas but ...

... point from Italy. So we bid farewell to ham products three times a day as our slow ferry lived up to its billing with a chug out into the Adriatic Sea. The town of Rovinj was alive and buzzing when we arrived at 9.30pm. A local group was singing very loudly on a stage by the water. People were drinking, dinning and wandering the streets. When Blake was done, we wandered deeper into the city's maze of narrow streets, eventually finding our way back to the city center where the market was winding down. We ate lunch at an Italian inspired restaurant (Trieste is less than 30 km away) with tables in the city square before returning to retrieve the mini-bus.

Leaving the parking lot was much easier than ...

... up out of concrete beaches. So, while we had an excellent meal at a local seafood restaurant, the boys were already beginning to discuss what they like about the beach in North Carolina. I think we were getting some serious homesickness vibes. The only thing that seemed to bring joy to them was the plate loaded with fresh mussels, Blake's new favorite drink 'Cockta', and the thought that there might still be a beach to be found tomorrow.
