Having said a sad farewell to Jules, Mark and Erin, we left the Amalfi and Sorrento coast and headed back up through Italy to spend a couple of nights in Tuscany in an old Villa hotel called Casa Volpi, en route to the Dolomites. The weather has been kind to us again and we had a nice day exploring Arezzo town, on our only full day here before heading north into the ...

Here's one for the foodies .....

It was our last festival before leaving Umbria , and it was THE BIG ONE, the one I had been really waiting for .....a White Truffle festival.

We had a birthday party for Lisa's 60th.

We went to the chestnut festival in Caprese Michelangelo .

We did more -- took walks, spent a day in Pienza, visited the Vestri Chocolate Factory (double yummy!).

But the pictures are still uploading to my computer so these will have to wait.

I'm off to take a last walk to the cemetery and back -- an easy 3.50 mile trek. Then time to pack my suitcase.

We arrived in Cortona and it was like a crazy scavenger hunt! I can't believe some of the steep lane ways we had to drive down; it felt like being at the top of the wooden ...

Day 20 - Wednesday 4 September Weather: clear skies and hot (35 degrees) This morning we had another lovely breakfast on the terrace of Hotel Ilaria and went for our last walk around the streets on Lucca. We have loved our three days here and found the locals extremely friendly and helpful. It was fun wandering around, not knowing what you would see around the next corner. Often, what you would find is quite a large piazza. There are ...
