Rijeka
On the train running close to the Croatian coastline, we passed a couple of small towns that line the shore toward Rijeka. I'd almost recommend you hop off the train a stop or two earlier, especially if you're a beach goer. Finally arriving into the port town, it reminded me of Esperance but with lesser beaches, a new currency and a wicked castle. We wandered down the port and began looking for our home for the evening. Lakes and the seaside
... over the mass of water ways we passed. We changed into our dry gear and followed the tarmac in the dark back to Rijeka.
Slowly we emerged from our night’s sleep and reluctantly returned the Audi. With Dino in tow we went for a look around the new shopping mall before heading to the university restaurant for lunch. The train pulled up and we had a short wander through Rijeka to find the bus station. Just on time for the bus ...

I climb to the top and look out over the ramparts: Rijeka, Lovran, Opatija, Krk, Cres, and on the other side there are mountains only ending with the subtle curve of Istria itself. I hear that if it's a clear day I'd see all the way to the south of the peninsula.
There's so much here - I can do anything, go anywhere, act on what I believe. Challenge things, too. I glance down at Lovran and can just barely ...
