... br> We were told to order “Red Red Wine” in the bar, which we only gave a score of “One in Ten”, and to top it off they had “A Rat in the Kitchen”. But it turned out the bar was owned by the drummer of the band UB40 – so that explained everything!
So another 193 miles further away from home and another new place to explore. Cheap and sunny, we are really enjoying Croatia.

We went to Stara Baska next. Now that was a nice trip! We went all the way to the end of yhe road and were surprised to find a nice little secluded bay where you could swim. We got our swimming stuff and hopped on down to the beach. That was nice. The water was cristal clear and boy... Even more cold than the other places we had swom. The view from the water ...
Departed on another wet day. After our peninsular stay we moved onto Rijeka about 450km north only 30 min from the Italian boarder. Rijeka was un upmarket port city. Young people and tourist filled the squares and the port pier. Great fir evening walks. Our apartment was small ...

Except for the dodgy cheese, the dodgier neighbours, half a meal and the coruscating heat. And of course the snails, who had marched up our table leg and were crawling sinisterly over my feet.Happy Birthday to me.

Birthday Cards received : None.
Presents received : Two ties, a small ceramic house and a small ceramic tree. And a free coffee and cake. Can't grumble.
... without my Catalytic converter! We really enjoyed being back on the very green side of the mountain and seeing the wolf/bear bridges.
When we came off the motorway we had to go through the mountain again but this time we went over the top! It was not as high here but still great fun. It was a very steep decent on the other side with lots of hairpin bends.
