      ... parade that morning. All the roads into town were blocked. The problem with that is that I needed to go through town to get to the museum. With zero luck navigating back roads only to be turned around by police, I decided to park and walk. I didn't realize it, but the museum and memorial were only a mile or so from my parking spot.       ... Germans breaking the line, in their minds, would cause Americans to lose the stomach for battle (not likely) and possibly create more tense friction between American and British command. The Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes (a forest region) was the Germans last hope at possibly regaining momentum in the war and possibly bringing the Allies to the peace table. Once they failed, in 5 months Hitler would be dead and Germany would surrender. ...

      ... have it downstairs, that doesn't seem to be the case. Perched at the top of the stairs is the "best" reception, with difficulties downloading photos or anything other than basic email.

      There is a real log fire in the lounge, and the landlord promises to clean it out daily and restart it for us late afternoon. Definitely a plus. Know how much work goes into maintaining one of those.

      We spent the morning exploring Oostende by bicycle. The town
      is extremely neat and clean and really quite a nice place to be. We essentially
      made a circuit that included the beach front and parts of the city. The beach
