    ... museums. They had things from both sides including actual uniforms worn by German and American Generals. The full sized tank was really cool as was the 3D movie of all the events leading up to the Bulge. Since I had my eye on something else later that day, I sort of rushed through the museum to move on to the highlight of the day.....finding the foxholes out in the Ardennes!

    ... Germans breaking the line, in their minds, would cause Americans to lose the stomach for battle (not likely) and possibly create more tense friction between American and British command. The Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes (a forest region) was the Germans last hope at possibly regaining momentum in the war and possibly bringing the Allies to the peace table. Once they failed, in 5 months Hitler would be dead and Germany would surrender. ...

    ... no wind. Not bad. Stopped for soup at Rochefort. More road works and pavements being replaced. Good soup and back on the road, this time taking the road less travelled. Obscure roads through tiny villages veering across the countryside.
