... at all! Tuesday we were in Mauritius which has been independent of Britain since 1968...and it shows. Although very similar in geology, the infrastructure is nowhere near as good. English is the official language, but most of the billboards are in French and the people speak Creole. Our guide in Reunion spoke far better English than the one in Mauritius.
