... eight miles in and out at each cycle (18 feet per second ) and can be dangerous, especially during storms. Pilgrims would keep their eyes fixed on the abbey's spire crowned by their protector, St. Michael to eventually reach their spiritual goal. ... the most delicious meal of fresh baguette, amazing cheese and tomato sandwiches ( Morry added some salami).  We were overlooking the water and old oyster farms, sitting on rocks, enjoying a moment of sunshine.  It was truly beautiful.  We could see the Mulberries of Gold Beach to the west of us, but at that point did not know what they were, Gold Beach is the site of one of the the British landings. ... wanted to take the little train down to the town so we did. Arromanches is beautiful. We saw more "relics" of WWII, tanks, guns and such.

Since it was lunchtime we seek out a restaurant. No menus are appealing to Dad..he's looking for a burger, no cusine francais pour mon pere. So we find a stand with crepes and a cheeseburger .. and we are both happy. I chose a crepe sucre in honor of my sugar-loving daughter. Yummy! We also bought some Normandy cider for later ...
