Run in with Police and crazy coco man

... chopping them up and shoving them into our hands....drink, drink...he said, so, we feel as though we have no other options so we...drank, drank...but only drank about 1/4 of each coconut. After putting them on the ground Kevin brings out the money to pay him....I guess that "loco" wasn't satisfied with the amount as he slouched on the ground sulking while we walked away. We continually checked backwards to make sure the knife wasn't ...

Markets, Volcanoes, Temples and of course Bikes!

... got rid of them it was me who was their next target. One took a running jump at me from behind and climbed up me and into my bag. It then decided the beads I was wearing looked nice and edible and so tried to munch those and take them off me. Shook him off them so he turned his attention to my bag and attempted to climb in. In the end to stop him running off with anything I had to half drop my bag and just shake it until I was monkey free. We made a quick exit to the outskirts of the ...

Eat, Shit, and Vomit (and Pray while you're at it)

... rice paddies. Brand new amenities; tile floors, stainless steel fixtures - staff that prepares us breakfast in the morning, cleans, and does our laundry. Paul also hooked us up with a motorbike for $45 a month which costs only about 60-70 cents to fill up each time. Once we got the motorbike Mike and I got pumped. We felt the sudden rush of being able to travel independently without having to rely on public transport. This excitement got our minds racing with ideas for day ...

Ubud - Cyber-geek buys a Cybershot

... Andy. There only seemed to be about 2 or 3 small shops selling cameras, which must have had a combined total of 8 cameras amongst them! It must have been really frustrating for Andy. Having a broken camera is one thing, but having it break after we'd visisted Malaysia and Singapore must have been a ***** because of the sheer amount of electronic stores that inhabit those countries! In Indoneisa there seem to be few electronicstores! [Andy: I did ...

temple homes and hiking volcanos

... get a decent briefing. I can not recommend using this company though who knows if the other smaller companies are any better (one tip is to go with the locals for the wreck dive out of Tulamben). Overall I did love seeing all the amazing variety of coral and there was one point where millions of fish swirled around like a tornado under water which was just incredible. That said, apparently the good diving is off Flores so I guess we'll have to check that ...

Julia's Last Day

... right after I wrote them on the board for the kids to write down! Although I was extremely frustrated, I held my mouth shut for the last ten minutes and just hoped that this girl wouldn't come again. By the time class finished, the afternoon rain had begun. To pour down. We decided we should just try to wait it out before walking home. Waiting about 3 minutes, I began to get antsy. I changed my mind and thought it wouldn't be too bad to make the 5-minute trek home and get a ...

Special Boom Boom

... place to wait out the rain though :-) The countdown begins for me while Trev is only reaching the midway point of his Indo adventure (Kate and I are thrilled that he finally got a hold of "Julian" - apparently a skateboarding God in some tiny place somewhere here in Bali that has a bowl... He will be going to visit this so called Julian when I leave for Densapar on Saturday) I will be sad to leave. On another quick sadness note, my ...

Bintang on the beach

First stop on this trip was Bali where I met up with my Aussie friend Mark. We spent a lot of quality time on the beach enjoying copious amounts of Bintang and admiring sunsets. We did manage to get ourselves away from the beach for a couple of days. We went up to Ubud for a day. After a full morning of shopping we had ...

A scorpion sting makes Bali bor-ing!

... such Bali party animals! Our final few days were spent getting more rest for the foot and rediscovering my appetite. We did have one day out when Bruce took us for a trip around Bali to show us a few highlights which was really nice, although to be honest if he'd taken me to the public toilets I'd have been pleased - anything to get out of that bloody room! So, there we have it - 2 weeks in Bali and only a bandage and a few medical tales to show for it. Still, I'm probably ...

Lovina
