Today we left our hotel at a more reasonable hour and drove through the countryside to Carmignano and arrived at the Capezzana Wine Estate. It is a noble wine estate known for its red wine and vin santo, the sweet dessert wine of Italy. The family-owned estate and winery is still run by several members of the Bonacossi Family. The grandmother Lissa (age 91) lives in the villa on the property, and her sons and daughters have various roles ...

As we got closer to the hotel the tourists crowded ...

... we were able to see the Duchess's rose garden. I thought that was just a historic name given to the garden after a historical duchess who must have lived there, but NO. Because Manuele then went on to say "Oh look, the Duchess is right over there!" And we all turned and saw a very kind lady who waved at us, sitting on a bench with a friend and a dog. And then we went into her rose garden and I went crazy taking close-ups of flowers.
