          ... highlighed by a mesmerizing visit their world class Aquarium. It is called Le Musee de Oceanagraphique, built in 1910 by Prince Albert and also run by the famous Jacque Cousteau. I instead stayed in town and went swimming in La Mer. A bit cold but all the more invigorating. I took a walk to an overrun garden originally put in by Lawrence Johnson (of Hidcote fame).           So this is what the Verdon Canyon is meant to be like if its not totally white out fog and pouring rain. Which it was all day. All 8 hours of sitting on a bus. Seriously tour company, if you know that a place is not accessible that day. Don't go. Stuff your itinerary!

          ... town. After that we had 'free time' during which mum and I did the unmentionable and walked (omg a huge 20minutes) out to a lighthouse/lookout along the cliffs of Portofino. The rest of the group were well impressed with our 'energy'. This was a lovely walk and we were rewarded with a cute little cafe at the end, where of course they charged tourist prices (4Euro) for one small lemonade.

          ... kept houses. It even looked like all the hills had been carefully mowed...surely not!? Slovenia reminds me of Austria. Definitely must get back there some time for hiking, kayaking, cycling, skiing!

          So far no one has spoken to us on the bus, everyone is keeping to themselves and very protective of their own space! I get some dirty looks for making too much noise, rustling around or moving my squeaky seat table too ...
