Tue - Menton to Vence. Col du Castillon 12.2km @ 6%) col de Braus (1002m, 5.5 km at 7.5%) 95 km for the day, 2100m climbed. Wed - Loop ride, Col de Vence (a Paris Nice classic) 58km 950m. Thur - Vence to Grasse (famous for perfume) via Gourdon & plateau de caussol. 65 km and 1180 ...
So this is what the Verdon Canyon is meant to be like if its not totally white out fog and pouring rain. Which it was all day. All 8 hours of sitting on a bus. Seriously tour company, if you know that a place is not accessible that day. Don't go. Stuff your itinerary!

... town. After that we had 'free time' during which mum and I did the unmentionable and walked (omg a huge 20minutes) out to a lighthouse/lookout along the cliffs of Portofino. The rest of the group were well impressed with our 'energy'. This was a lovely walk and we were rewarded with a cute little cafe at the end, where of course they charged tourist prices (4Euro) for one small lemonade.

... kept houses. It even looked like all the hills had been carefully mowed...surely not!? Slovenia reminds me of Austria. Definitely must get back there some time for hiking, kayaking, cycling, skiing!
So far no one has spoken to us on the bus, everyone is keeping to themselves and very protective of their own space! I get some dirty looks for making too much noise, rustling around or moving my squeaky seat table too ...
