      ... not have a huge harbour for visiting tourist ships. This meant it was not busy with tourists.
      - A small village ( another) with a small harbour and a lovely ambience ( again ).
      - Sandy Beach in Bol. It looked lovely from the Futura but the Croatian definition of sand is different to our Kiwi definition!

      ... retrieved for our first workstay! The ranch we are going to is in the Velebit National park and to be honest I'm not entirely sure what to expect from our stay there. Oh well...at least it's free board! After that I'm not sure where we'll end up but hopefully we can do a Romania/Hungary tour. I think that's all for now! Ciao, M&E Oh wait!       ... happened to be in Bol to celebrate Croatia's independence day. The hostel owners have a boat, so we went to watch the fireworks from the harbour. It was really nice. We also tried some of the local street food which consisted of some nice sea food dishes.

      I am not sure what else to say about Bol. It is a beautiful little place with not much happening. It was exactly perfect for laying on the beach and being ...

      ... bed with a new appreciation for Croatia and the people. We should all be that proud of where we come from. Especially since our lives are easy compared to what the people of Croatia have experienced in the last 50 years! But as Mirjana shared with us, the people of Croatia are what make it so special regardless of the hardships they have experienced. That is something she must have said 10 times on our adventure and something we discovered was the essence of their culture.

      ... of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Almost uniquely among Emperors, Diocletian actually retired from the role and returned to his native Croatia where he built this magnificent palace. This was most unusual, as almost all Emperors in that period finished their reign by being deposed and killed. I think I read once that after Caesar Augustus very few Emperors died peacefully in their own beds! Anyway Diocletian had the innovative idea ...
