      Tours to Thiron-Gardais

It was a very misty morning. The grass play area had a low cloud hovering over the turf between the chalets and the camping cars.
A drive along the Loire. With the river high up its banks the road was safe because it was on the levee. We drove through Amboise to Blois, stopping at Chaumont-sur Loire. Then across country through Chateaudun to Thiron.
      The weather had ...

A blurry eyed wake up call at 6 saw us tent packed and underway for just before 7. Double Espresso at the Baie du Somme Aire got things moving. News of tunnel closures In Rouen led to a hasty detour cross country but sat nav saviour came to the rescue ! Arrived at Issoire around 4:30 so our guess of 9 hours driving was about right. Curry for tea at the lovely municipal site, Camping du Mas with Herons soaring above ...

It is quiet, clean and comfortable. There has been a large group of cyclists staying ...

... cave dwellings in the cliffs. We also explored the town of Sarlat, which is a beautiful medieval market town. There are narrow lanes to walk down, which offer some respite from the heat of the day as the buildings are all stone so are very cool. After a very hot day we dipped our toes in the Dordoigne before finding a campsite for the night - which had to have a pool again to cool us down! We found a site in campsite in Rouffillac, just a short trip along the ...

      Sées

This is a convenient stop on our way back North.
We spent the morning discovering Sées. We can recommend the Gothic Cathedral and the cafe opposite the railway station where the workmen were having their 2 hour lunch with cider and wine on every table. A 2.5 hour drive from there to Dieppe and the ferry back to the UK.
