... to a nice walkable beach with many restaurants offering free sun chairs and umbrellas, the water was perfect - warm and calm and deep enough for swimming. The town had a nice amount of restaurants, and it wasn't a huge party scene. There were a lot of families, and seems to be a popular destination for Russians.

After an overnight bus, taxi, skytrain and a half hour walk I arrived at Centara Grand hotel in Bangkok. The hotel was 5 star luxury and I felt like a tramp arriving - I didn't even have enough money to pay the deposit! Finally I was shown to my room and I had my first bath since coming to Thailand!! ... we created massive puddles of water on the floor of the office, we were told that many people came in soaking wet today to get their tickets. This made us feel a bit better about it.

... to a tepid pool and then a hot pool - going from the river to the hot pool makes the water feel even hotter. It was a truly indulgent way to spend Christmas Day though.
