Historical Traveler Reviews Villa Delle Stelle Los Angeles

    Perfecta estancia en Los Ángeles

    from

    Wow!

We have just spent a week in the Art Deco room of this fabulous property! We had 2 girls 18 and 19 years old with us and this hotel is such value for the money! We had 2 bedrooms, each with a flat screen tv, separated by a kitchen with a breakfast bar/dining and living area. The appliances are wonderful... gas stove, stainless steel appliances, the dishes, glasses etc. are so coordinated. And the beds, linens and pillows are marvellous, which is so important . Two entrances meant the girls could go out and come back in without disturbing us if need be. The bathtub is wonderfully deep with candles set across the tub to add to the ambience. Let's just say, that it is so obvious that a talented interior decorator/designer has been at work!

As for the area, you can walk to the Hollywood and Highland complex, and there are lots of restaurants there and, of course, in West Hollywood, which is really close by. My husband, who does not like to travel, because he travels for work so much... has suggested we go back for Christmas to spend it with some of our friends who live nearby! That's big!! :)

I do have to warn you, the room will make you feel so much at home that you won't want to leave! But you need to ... to make room for us :) !!!

    Un somptueux petit bijou

    from

    from

    Splendida Vacanza a Los Angeles

    from

All'arrivo, l'edificio è collocato a pochi minuti da Hwy 101 on Sunset e la posizione era abbastanza buona.

    Perfekter Aufenthalt in Los Angeles

    from

    from

    A gorgeous little gem

    from

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid-February 2007. We stayed in the 2 bedroom bungalow which is out the back from the main building. The accommodation is luxurious and very private. It is fully equipped and contains everything you could want including a washing machine and dryer.

The area is not the best but we never felt unsafe. It is close to a shopping centre which provided all our needs including late night snacking at a Dennys.

It is a bit of a walk from the main Hollywood attractions but we are used to walking. The owner was a bit surprised that we didn't have a car but we managed to do everything we wanted using public transport. The redline subway is pretty convenient and cheap at 1.25 per rip or 3.00 for a day pass that can also be used on buses.

The Villa Delle Stelle has no external signage. Pay attention to the check in procedures as there is no reception. The owner lives on the premises and was generally available.

We will definitely consider the Villa Delle Stelle for future LA stays.

Luxe and lavish lodging in Hollywood

    from

Only superlatives will do to describe this wonderful small hotel in Hollywood. Three luxurious suites, each with a distinctively different design theme, have been fashioned from a historic Hollywood mansion once owned by a film industry executive. The current owner is an interior designer and a former wife of the actor Dudley Moore. She and her assistant have created a beautiful and very interesting lodging alternative to a hotel or even a bed and breakfast.

My husband and I stayed two nights in the opulent Parisian suite. The photos on the web site looked grand, but as we ascended the stairs and saw the suite for the first time, all I could keep saying was "WOW" over and over.

The Parisian suite includes a lovely dining room, a very spacious kitchen completely stocked with appliances, dinnerware, glasses, etc., a large bathroom, a master bedroom with several windows,a chaise lounge, and a huge, comfy bed, a second bedroom with twin beds, and even a fax machine.

The decorator's touch is everywhere. Yards and yards of sumptuous silk draperies frame the windows, intricately finished bed linens and pillows adorn the beds, a fabulous chandelier hangs above the master bed, and always, the lamps, side tables, and accessories blend masterfully to complete this scrumptiously indulgent cocoon-like retreat.

The owner and her assistant are warm and gracious hostesses and have provided the very thoughtful extras of a wonderful bottle of wine, creamy cheese, a baguette, and a gorgeous, fragrant floral arrangement.

Amidst all the luxurious fabric and gilded furniture, somehow the flat panel screen television above the fireplace doesn't look out of place. So often it seems, owners of B&Bs think that travelers looking for the B&B experience don't want any electronic intrusions, but I think that they don't detract from the intended aesthetic. And, anyway, you can always choose not to watch television.

We didn't see the other two suites, but they look equally wonderful on the web site, and one of them has a bed and piano that once belonged to Dudley Moore.

We walked to dinner both nights, and we didn't find the location to be a negative. We spent the second day in Pasadena, and the drive was easy. Parking at the hotel can be very tricky if you have to park in the garage. It is a very tight fit, and maneuvering out takes patience.

We think this is a true gem and enjoyed our stay very much. We would happily stay there again.

    Perfect Los Angeles stay

    from

I found Villa Delle Stelle on [--] a week before my arrival because I was not able to confirm my plans. I stayed for 6 nights and it is the perfect place for a LA vacation as I was travelling with family, 4 of us. We stayed in the Parisian suite, 2 bedroom (one king and the other with 2 singles).

When I saw the pictures on the website, I was a bit apprehensive because I'm not a fan of old Parisien décor. At arrival, the house is located within minutes of Hwy 101 on Sunset and the neighbourhood was mediocre. There is a Denny's and Starbucks across the street. The interior condition was perfect and it looks like the unit was recently renovated because everything was brand new. It was well stocked with linens, cutleries, and cookware, all things that made the unit like home. Being the party of 4, we would've required two hotel rooms but Villa Delle Stelle accomodated me at half the rate of 2 hotel rooms.

In all, I strongly recommend the unit for short term LA stays.

Then we went to Mt Soledad which was another top rated site to visit while in the La Jolla area. Unfortunately because it was still late morning the cloud was still handing around so we could not see much. It was a bit eery with the clouds floating past us and the monument at the top of the mount but it was a beautiful monument dedicated to the fallen troops from the US.

I will (no doubt) provide an update either tonight or tomorrow. I also have to mention this fantastic place we had dinner last night. It is called 'Mel's Drive-in' and ...

... as horrible this sounds, I greased my parents off(lol) for taking me overseas with hours and hours of flights.

Anyway, I didn't understand English then hence I was only 5 years old turning 6 that time. I felt weird, felt like an outsider, lost and confused. Thankfully, I had my sister with me and I met all my cousins from my Mum side for the first time. To be complete honest, i think it was for one of my cousin's wedding but seriously? what do I ...
