Saturday 23rd August
Hello from Palermo, Sicily
Made famous by the Godfather movies and as we walked off the ship we were confronted by a smooth talking taxi driver who said "sir I can do you a good deal", how could I say no, I might be sleeping with the fishes if I did.

We awakened at 6 AM and rushed to the upper observation deck with a cup of tea in hand to watch us sail through the Straits of Messina. This morning we left Ragusa after a buffet breakfast and headed to the town of Caltagirone. We boarded a small tourist train which took us into some lovely gardens and then up to the town. This town is well known for its ceramics which they export all over the world. Those who were fit enough climbed the 170 steps to get a wonderful view from the top.
