I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)

... they had when we last met) who we hadn’t seen for a couple of years when we were all gale bound in Ermoupolis on the island of Syros. Naturally we invited them across for a drink. Just prior to them appearing ‘Caladh’ slid into the berth next door to us with Richard and June having just finished their cruising season who, likewise, hadn’t met up with Steve, Anna and family for some time. Strahlender Sonnenschein - wie gewöhnlich und eine sanfte Brise.
Mit dem Leihrad geht es die Küste entlang. Immer weiter, bis das Ende der Welt, genauer: der Straße erreicht ist.
Hier gibt es leider nur sehr wenige Schattenplätze an einer Imbißbude mit knatterndem Generator. Kein heimeliges Plätzchen, um die Aussicht zu genießen.

Mein Friseurbesuch kostet annäh**nd das Gleiche wie daheim, die Stange Zigaretten, als Mitbringsel, kostet imm**hin we***** als bei uns.

Im Flieger: Lallen statt Bordservice.
Im Bus: Geht noch billiger.
Im Hotel: Ein Appartement über zwei Etagen, halsbrecherische Wendeltreppe, viel zu warm und mit Brumm- und Plätschergeräuschen - Direktanschluss an den Swimmingpool - na danke-
In der Nacht: Schlaflosigkeit, ein Zimmer, das den Schlaf raubt, aber die Oropax sind daheim geblieben.

... stocked with beautiful brass artifacts. Right away I was invited into the store for a cup of hot apple tea, served in small glass cups. The Turkish people seemed so friendly and what a nice gesture! Hot apple tea was served in almost every store.
While walking I noticed large bunches of Saffron, hanging to dry from the balconies above the street - gorgeous red contrast to the pale chalky buildings.

... washed seaside hotels, clean open air shopping area, and magnificent castle guarding the harbor. But we stayed long enough for a last swim in the Med and a doner sandwich before catching the bus out of town. Our big thanks to GB and Sarah and Djarrka for providing us with the ability to make our dream of sailing the Med come true. They were wonderful hosts and we know we are lucky to have spent some time with them in the beautiful seas of Turkey.
