My last stop in Greece
Today we stopped in Kavalla, which is a nice seaside town about halfway between Meteora and Galipolli, our next stop. It was 39 degrees here! The main thing to see is the Old Town, which is up on a hill and has a small castle at the top. It was a hot walk, but worth it for the views. I also bought a little blue over-the-should fake Marc Jacobs bag to use during the day.

... relax in a quieter town for the night and have a shorter drive into Istanbul the following day.
It stormed and poured most of the way into Kavala. By the time we reached there we had left the storm behind us and we were welcomed by blue skies and sunshine - but only for a few hours before the weather caught up with us.

Kavala'da öğlen yemeği
... turist otobüsleri müşterileri Todori'ye getirdiği için yer bulmak zor. Yediğimiz kalamar tava, ahtapot ızgara ve salata çok güzeldi.
Yemekten sonra Kavala'nın eski sokaklarından yürüyerek yukarılara doğru çıktık. Yolda sağda Osmanlı yapılarından büyük bir imarethane, daha sonra Türk ve Rum evlerinin yanyana olduğu şirin sokaklar ...

After I had eaten, I decide to explore the small port and sit in the dark looking out at the boat lights reflected in the black sea. I still can hardly believe I'm in Greece and that I'm really going to be in Lesvos very soon.
Surprisingly I do manage to have a decent nights sleep, only woken up in the early hours by the boom boxes of the after parties.
