Villa Clara San Sebastián de la Gomera

... steil in een zigzag route omhoog. Het uitzicht over het eiland wordt steeds weidser en de Montana Blanca is van bovenaf te zien. Na weer 540 meter te hebben gestegen komt Refugio de Altavista in beeld. Dit gebouw dat op 3260 meter hoogte staat is voor noodgevallen gebouwd, maar je kunt ook een overnachting reserveren. Het is aan te raden om hier rust te nemen. Tijd moet genomen worden om aan de hoogte te wennen en het is ook beter voor hart- en bloedvaten!<br>Achter Refugio de Altavista ...

... van Tenerife Outdoor (een Belgische man en een Nederlandse vrouw) gaan we een wandeling doen naar een soort "cowboyhoed" die in de buurt van de Teide ligt. Zoom maar eens in op de locatie van deze dag en je kan een speciale ronde vorm herkennen op de bestemming van deze wandeling.<br><br>Zeer mooi uitzicht trouwens op de Teide!<br><br>

We walked the whole way from Playa Paraiso back to Los Cristianos, partly on hilly rocky tracks and partly on the seafront prom, and have also found one or two quiet beaches and some splendid over cliff walks to the apparent ghost town of Palm Mar. Arrived in Tenerife to a hot sunny afternoon... got the bus to Los Christianos with bikes still in boxes. All the fat sunburnt british tourists frightened us away and we got straight on a ferry to San Sebastian, on La Gomera. On arriving in SS, I started on the fun job of unpacking the bikes and attempting to rebuild them while M took off with a nice english expat to find us a pensione. A few surprises in the bike ...

... this 10km walk is a lengthy descent of La Merica which finished at our front door - how convenient is that?<br><br>It was with somewhat mixed feelings that we left the peace, views and excellent food of La Gomera to return to Tenerife. ... as Las Americas is so hilly even getting about it is good exercise - but we´ve made the most of the warm sea and sandy beach. We also took a walk up the Barranco del Infierno - about an hour and a half to the waterfall through a succession of different landscapes and dizzying views.We have found a good and very cheap restaurant, and eaten sardines and canary potatoes until they come out of our ears.
